Q
Is there a backup facility?
A
Not at present, we are going to include this functionality in Version 2.0 although it can be done manually in Version 1.x by copying the the contents of the "Data" folder (conatined within the SIMS installation folder) to a floppy disk or CD Rom.
Q
Will I lose my data when ugrading to a different version?
A
No, SIMS automatically detects versions and makes database changes accordingly. A backup is performed before any database upgrade to ensure there is no possibility of data loss. Just remember you do not need to uninstall SIMS before installing the new version.
Q
Do I need to pay for upgrades?
A
All intermediate upgrades come free regardless i.e. v1.0 to v1.1. There will be no upgrade charge to the next major release i.e v1.x to v2.0 although there will be a minimal upgrade fee for a 2 step version i.e. v1.0 to v3.0 (Note: this is the version you registered and not necessarily the once you are using)
Q
I cannot edit the data or change System Properties?
A
SIMS works on the principle that you must first enter into "Edit Mode" before you can change the data, once you are in edit mode you can then decide whether to save or cancel the amendments. Each screen contains a toolbar with all the available options you can perform, select an option from the toolbar (leave the mouse cursor over a button for a second to get a hint) and the system will indicate "Edit Mode" via the icon in the bottom left of the status bar.
Q
Can I include my company logo on invoices?
A
The new "SIMS Invoice Designer" allows you to add your company logo and other images to the User Configurable Invoice although the ability to add your logo the the predefined invoice templates will be available in Version 2.0.
